Puerto del Rosario Approves €9.5 Million in Investments Through 2029

Overview

The Puerto del Rosario City Council approved in the ordinary plenary session this May a multi‑year investment plan amounting to €9,529,660.32, earmarked for strategic projects between 2026 and 2029.

The initiative includes actions in neighborhoods, rural zones, public spaces and municipal facilities, aiming to modernize infrastructure, improve public services and raise the quality of life in the municipality, the council said in a statement.

The plan was submitted to the corporation’s plenary for final approval and incorporates an exceptional amendment to the spending limits set by the Local Treasury Law, a procedure the council deems necessary to guarantee the viability and proper execution of the works.

Main Allocation

  • 2027 will see the bulk of the spending, with more than €7.3 million allocated.
  • The most prominent projects are:
    • El Charco neighbourhood – resurfacing and service renewal, costing €3.68 million.
    • Las Granadas neighbourhood – service renewal, road resurfacing and installation of speed limiters, costing €1.34 million.
    • Risco Prieto Park – conditioning works scheduled from 2026 to 2029, budgeted at €1.44 million.
  • Rural improvements (road resurfacing and speed limiters) exceed €715,000.

Cultural and Safety Facilities

  • La Matilla Cultural Center – €650,727.
  • Firefighters’ Park – €423,285.
  • Additional upgrades for accessibility and equipment in coastal zones such as Playa Blanca.

Official Statements

“We are facing an unprecedented investment that will transform Puerto del Rosario,” said Mayor David de Vera. He added that the plan responds to neighbourhood demands and seeks to improve services across districts, the urban centre and rural areas.

“This program will allow us to address, in an integrated manner, the renewal of infrastructure that is essential for citizens’ daily lives,” said Councilor for Works Ana Hernández, highlighting actions focused on road safety, sanitation, water supply and public‑space improvement.

Councilor for Economy and Finance Juan Manuel Verdugo stressed that an investment of this magnitude requires “responsible and transparent economic management.” He explained that the multi‑year spending and the amendment of legal limits will enable the budget to align with the actual pace of project execution.

Next Steps

The plenary’s approval of the dossier will be the necessary step to launch procurement procedures and begin the implementation of the planned actions.
