Cabildo Provides €2 Million to Nonprofits for Social Projects
Press Release – The Cabildo of Fuerteventura is injecting €2 million to strengthen the island’s social fabric, aiming to continue its commitment to support the most vulnerable groups. The announcement was made by Island President Lola García and Social Action Councillor Víctor Alonso during a meeting with third‑sector associations, which also included Treasury Councillor Nuria Cabrera.
“It is essential to support the services that third‑sector associations provide to the most vulnerable people in every municipality of Fuerteventura,” said President Lola García. “These associations, together with families, carry out daily work that is indispensable for guaranteeing rights, accompanying life processes, and building a more inclusive society.”
“The Cabildo reaffirms its commitment to the work carried out by associations across the entire island,” added Councillor Víctor Alonso. “It is a great effort to improve people’s wellbeing and often reaches services and needs that public administration struggles to address.”
The 2026‑2027 financing plan, amounting to €2 million, will enable organizations to implement projects until 31 December 2027, providing stability and benefiting nearly 60,000 residents across the island.
According to Víctor Alonso, the funding will also have a direct impact on the hiring of specialized staff: up to 106 positions will be created by 30 associations operating in areas such as health and disease, physical and mental disability, social exclusion and poverty, elderly care and reception, women’s issues, volunteering, migration and interculturality, as well as childhood and family support.
